December 15th Reporting Changes

	Important Information

Hello William Leach,

In our recent communication which described the updates to reporting with our December 15th release there was an error in the description. We stated that the Category report would have a new feature making it easier to drill down into day by day activity, when actually the Campaign report will have this new feature. We will not be changing any of the layout or features associated with the Category report. Here is a description of what you can expect to see:

When a user runs a Campaign Report, the list of campaigns that appears in the table below the graph will each become a link that will direct the user to a ‘By Day‘ report for the exact same criteria as was run for the Campaign Report, but with the additional Campaign filter that is selected.

We apologize for the earlier miscommunication and hope you find this new feature helpful.

Enhanced Reporting in December Release

	Important Information

In our December 15th release, we have two updates to tell you about.

Based on publisher feedback, we are now requesting payment information within the registration flow. By collecting payment information upfront, new publishers will be able to receive earnings upon completing registration. This will solve the problem of forgetting to enter payment information before the end of the month, and thus causing delays.

The second update is to the reporting functionality and will dramatically increase the amount of data available to you. We have enhanced the Category Report and the Tool/Creative Report to allow publishers to view daily numbers by line, as previously you could only view high level summary data. You will now be able to see how tools, creatives and campaigns perform on a daily basis.

We are continuing to bring innovation and enhancements to the platform and always welcome your feedback.

Introducing our newest tool - Custom Banner

Custom Banner is a new tool that incorporates live eBay listings directly onto your site. It's a customizable flash banner that displays real-time eBay listings based on your search criteria and you can filter the search results based on keyword, category, and more. It allows you to choose from several pre-defined themes or design your own, and it's branded with the "Right Now on eBay" logo and PayPal logos for listings that offer PayPal as a payment method. You can find Custom Banner in the Widgets section of the Tools tab and as it's built into the eBay Partner Network interface, it's incredibly easy to use, so try it today! Learn more

eBay Affiliate Teams get out and about

Last month the UK Affiliate team had a stand at the UK's biggest affiliate marketing event, the A4U Expo, which was attended by affiliates from across Europe. The eBay Partner Network stand proved very popular and the team spoke to literally hundreds of affiliates about promoting eBay and using the eBay Partner Network. The UK Affiliate Manager, Cian Weeresinghe, gave a talk about using an API successfully as an affiliate and you can read his presentation here. Finally, congratulations to our two winners on each winning a Nintendo Wii for the fastest downhill slalom run and the longest ski jump!

	The next event the eBay Partner Network team will be attending is the Affiliate Summit in Las Vegas from January 11th to 13th. We always like to meet our affiliates in person, so get your ticket if you haven't already!

Category Summary Report

We've had great feedback from our affiliates about the Category Summary Report, which allows you to view the product categories in which the buyers you send to eBay end up converting. This information is viewable by program and even down to the campaign level. You can see total ACRUs, Bid/Bins, Winning Bids, and Winning Bid Revenue displayed in your choice of either pie or bar chart options to help you better visualize your performance. To get even greater insight into the buying habits of your users, you can drill down from the main category to sub categories down to the third level. Learn more

The Holiday Season is nearly here

As we're unpacking holiday decorations, rolling out the cookie dough or planning vacations, it's hard to forget - only 20 shopping days left! The good news for eBay affiliates? Reminder - France Program has moved to Rev Share

If you've not been active on the eBay.fr program before, now is the time to start, as from November 1st, the eBay.fr changed the way it rewards its affiliates. Now you are not only paid based on the number of new Active Confirmed Registered Users (ACRUs) you deliver to eBay.fr, but you'll also receive a large share of the revenue generated by the winning Bids and Buy-it-Nows you deliver. You can now earn up to 65% of the revenue you generate and up to €20 per new active user. Learn more

Reminder - Value Based Pricing on the US Program

The new Value Based Pricing structure for ACRUs began on November 1st for all publishers that joined the eBay Partner Network prior to August 1st (all publishers that joined since then have already been placed on this system). This means that all ACRUs that are generated from now on will be placed on a payout tier according to the value of the new active eBay users you send. ACRU Tracking Issue and Makegood Details

	Important Information

Hello,

We wanted to let you know that we experienced an issue with ACRU tracking this month. An error was introduced recently during an upgrade in the way ACRU are tabulated. The issue affected stats from November 13th (when the upgrade rolled that caused the issue) to November 16th (when we put the fix in place). Note that you wouldn't have seen November 16th data until the following day (November 17th). This issue also affected all eBay programs (countries). It did not affect Half.com.

We were able to recover the data, and will be able to calculate the right number of ACRUs and the correct quality tiers for each account and therefore attribute the right earnings to each of you at the end of the month. The magnitude of the issue was in the order of 30-40% of your ACRUs for those days, but this may vary by publisher.

We will issue a makegood at the end of the month to be paid out with the rest of your November commissions in December. However, please note that we will not be able to update the actual reports in the interface with the correct ACRU numbers. Therefore the numbers that you see in your reports for ACRUs this month will be missing those 4 days worth of data. This will affect all reports, including your campaign quality report. Despite the missing numbers, the campaign quality report should still be a directional indicator of the quality of your traffic at a campaign level.

To see the amount of your makegood bonus, follow these steps. First, login to your ePN account. Then click on the Account Tab in the upper left of your screen. Next, click on the Payment History link to see your payment history details. Here you will see your past successful payments as well as a pending payment amount. If you click the pending payment amount you can see a breakdown of your Earnings for the month as well as the makegood Bonus amount. PLEASE NOTE that the bonus won't be updated in the interface until late December.

There have been quite a few updates to the platform in recent releases, as well as some changes that we wanted to remind you of here. Please read about these key topics and get the full details on our blog.

Value Based Pricing Reminder

We are moving all publishers joined before August 1^st to the new Value Based Pricing for ACRUs starting this month. We will gauge the expected lifetime value of the new users you send and place you on a payout tier accordingly. The new Campaign Quality Reports we have been uploading over the past few months assign a quality score for each of your campaigns with 5 or more ACRUs. These scores are to give you an idea of the payout you will receive for your ACRUs each month. Please read the complete details of the new Value Based Pricing and Campaign Quality Reports on the eBay Partner Network Blog.

New Category Reporting and Custom Banner Widget

As you may have seen we have created a new Category Report that allows you to see which categories you are converting in as a percentage of your total ACRUs, Bids/Bins, Winning Bids, and Winning Bid Revenue. You can even drill down three levels from the high level meta categories for great insight into your users biding activity on the site.

We are also excited to have just released a Beta version of the much anticipated Custom Banner Widget. This new widget is similar to Editor Kit but allows you complete control over the appearance and auction listing results it displays. Try it out!

Holiday Promotions

New this year, eBay will be offering special deals and promotions for all types of great Holiday gift items. Starting today we will be offering holiday shoppers’ access to eBay’s Holiday Promotions which include Daily Deals and Bid from $1 Hot Items with Free Shipping. These will all be aggregated on the www.eBay.com/deals page. The Daily Deals will feature one popular item, each day, such as an Apple Ipod 80GB at a very low price until the quantities are sold out. Our list of items we plan to offer for the Daily Deal is sure to get shoppers coming back to check what’s coming next! The Bid from $1 will feature 100’s of great Holiday gifts with Free Shipping that start at $1 and do not have a minimum set price, so there will be big opportunities for Holiday shoppers to find great deals! Case Study

Since 2007, eBay sellers in the US have been permitted to promote their own products by using an affiliate link on their off-eBay website to direct their visitors to their eBay listings. On September 10th, we changed our terms and conditions to allow eBay sellers in the UK and France to do the same thing, so we thought it would be useful to share with you the story of one our most successful eBay seller affilliates, Trainz.com, who recently won the Professional eBay Sellers' Alliance (PeSA) award for driving the most traffic to eBay.

Trainz.com is an e-commerce website specifically for the model train enthusiast. Started in the late nineties by Scott Griggs, Trainz.com sells about 4,000 collectible and new model trains a month on its own website as well as on eBay. Trainz.com has incorporated links to its eBay inventory all over its website, encouraging visitors to check eBay as well as Trainz.com. They also issue a monthly newsletter, which is used to highlight new and collectible items for sale on its site and on eBay.

Changes to the eBay Site

By now you've probably noticed that in September there were some big changes made to the eBay site. The changes vary by country, but were all made so that eBay continues to be attractive to shoppers. Since the changes it's far easier to list fixed items on eBay, as the up front listing fees have been reduced and the cost shifted to the back end final value fees, which are only payable if you're successful in selling an item. The search functionality has also improved and the Best Match sort order intermingles the most popular fixed price items with the auctions with time ending soonest and also demotes listings from bad sellers. Change of Payment Structure for eBay.fr Affiliate Program

	Important Information

Change of Payment Structure for the eBay.fr Affiliate Program on the 1st of November 2008 !

The eBay France affiliate team is very happy to inform you that as of the 1st of November 2008, the payment structure of the French affiliate program will change in order to help you earn more!

Up to now, the eBay.fr affiliate program has mostly rewarded the recruitment of new registered users. As of the 1st of November, we want to compensate you more for the activity of the 12 million registered users we have already!

This is why, on top of the new ACRU compensation, the ebay.fr affiliate program will be tying your earnings per bid and BIN to the revenue we get for the sold item and the share you receive will vary from 40% to 65%. This model has already allowed affiliates to increase their income in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Details on the Revenue Share Payout structure (or "Rev'Share")

The revenue used to calculate your commission is made up of the seller fees (listing fees and final value fees) earned by eBay after a winning bid or Buy-it-Now that has been generated by traffic that you have driven to eBay.fr.

Basically, this means that when you generate sales on eBay.fr and eBay.fr receives €100 of revenue from these sales, you will be paid between €40 and €65, depending on the total monthly revenue generated by your account.

On top of an exceptional payout on revenue, the eBay.fr affiliate program will continue to reward you for New Active Users based on a new payout structure (see detailed structure below).

Issue with Revenue Reporting

	Important Information

Hello William Leach,

We have identified an issue that may be inflating revenue data in eBay Partner Network reports. Due to an issue with one of our databases, some of the revenue fees for publishers were double-counted in our system. The issue appears to have affected publishers only from Sept 5th-Sept 9th, and only in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada programs. Although the impact varies by publisher, the revenue was overstated by as much as 20% or more for those 5 days.

We have been able to calculate down to the individual publisher level what the correct revenue should be for those days. Our team is in the process of correcting the associated data and tables but may take several more days to complete this task. In the meantime, please keep this information in mind as you run any reports that span the associated time periods.

It has come to our attention that certain e-mail clients didn't properly display our e-mail explaining our changes to eBay Partner Network's Terms and Conditions sent last week. If you ever see any issues with an e-mail from us, please note that you can always read it by going to your message center in your eBay Partner Network Account. Please find a copy of the e-mail below.

As you may already know, our newest release of the eBay Partner Network went live on September 10th. This new release incorporates additional reporting functionality to more easily track your traffic's performance on eBay, as well as a new Campaign Quality Report that will help you determine the quality of new registered users you send to the US program. As of November 1st, ACRUs payouts for all publishers in the US program will calculated using these quality tiers. For a full description of all the new features in this release, please check out our blog post about it from last Friday.

Please also note that the Network Agreement and Advertiser Terms and Conditions have been updated with this release. Please review these documents thoroughly to make sure you fully understand the updated policies. Some updates you may want to pay special attention to include:

The eBay UK and eBay FR programs now allow eBay sellers to become affiliates (in their programs)
Any transaction resulting from traffic that has been redirected off of an Advertiser site (e.g. eBay.com) will be disqualified, and you will not receive commissions
Paid Search: Bidding on KW "eBay" or any variations is not permitted in any program
If you choose PayPal as a payment method, your PayPal account must be verified in order for your payment to be released. Learn more about how to verify your account.

The updated Network Agreement and Advertiser Terms and Conditions will go into effect for existing publishers on September 19th. If you choose not to accept any terms set forth by the new policies, you may end our affiliate agreement before September 19th by closing your account under the "Account: Business Information" section of the eBay Partner Network interface. Please ensure before you close your account that a payment method has been entered and is correct as you will not be able to edit this information after you have closed your account. If you have any questions regarding the new policies, please contact customer service.

Transaction Download Report Changes Starting September 10th

Dear William Leach,

As explained in our Blog Post published August 19th, we wanted to make sure you're aware of the enhancements to the Transaction Download Report in our upcoming September 10th release. If you are using the ePN API to automatically receive and process this report, or are an active user of this report, please be aware of these changes and make the proper adjustments.

Field Changes:

We will be adding three more fields to the right of the existing data columns (note that there will still be an unused last column, which will now be to the right of these three new fields). These three new columns are the Site ID, Meta Category ID, and Unique Transaction ID.

New Field Details:

The Site ID will identify the site on which the conversion took place (e.g. eBay.com, eBay.co.uk, ebay.fr, etc)

The Meta Category ID will provide the top-level category of the item according to eBay's category structure (the "Leaf Category ID" available today only gives the most detailed category classification of that item. . With this information, you will be able to identify which general category of goods the item belonged to, and in turn understand which items convert best. For example, the eBay US category ID for Clothes, Shoes, and Accessories is (2559875).

Unique Transaction ID for Revshare transactions: this will contain a unique Transaction ID, which will help you to track each transaction individually, as well as any associated actions taken against this specific transaction, such as a credit.

You will be able to find more information on Site ID, Category ID and the Unique Transaction ID in the help section after the September 10th release.

Non Paid Transaction Events:

As of September 10th, Publishers will also have the ability to view both Paid and Non Paid Transactions. A Non Paid Transaction is an action that happens on the site for which the relevant affiliate program does not pay out, e.g. a non winning auction bid or CRU in the US or UK. When you select to run the Transaction Report from your ePN Publisher Account, you will see a radio button selection that will allow you to choose to have unpaid transactions included in all the events you download for the transaction download file. The default setting is to show only payable transactions, as occurs today.

We're hoping these enhancements will allow you to optimize your traffic more effectively, as well as help you understand your site transactions better. If you are currently using the Transaction Download API we believe these changes will only require a minor adjustment. Keep in mind that if you simply delete the last four columns of the new report (the three new columns plus the existing unused column, which will be the last column as it is today), you will have the same report as you do today.
